In 1971 in Orange County, Florida, 11 schools were essentially segregated, with a student population that was more than 80% Black. Today, 18 schools in the district are similarly segregated. One school, Orange Center Elementary, has a student population that is 99% Black.
Nearly 50 years ago, the NAACP filed suit against the district. Schools are still segregated. The suit is still open.
